This site is a collection of original artwork. Please browse the Gallery and leave your feedback and let me know what you like and don't like. When you have found something you like if available you can purchase directly from this site. If an original is no longer available you may be interested in a print. If you have not found something you really like or are interested in a commissioned piece feel free to send me an e-mail. I work in oils, charcoal & graphite, pen & ink and acrylics. The larger oil paintings are painted with high quality oils on stretched canvas. Larger acrylics are also painted on stretched canvas. Some of the larger pieces can take a few months to complete. Many of the plein-air (outside on location) paintings are done in acrylics on canvas board. This makes it easier to transport while traveling. The charcoal and graphite artwork is done on quality Vellum Bristol drawing paper. I will be starting a "Minature Paintings" which consists of a very small oil or acrylic painting on 1/8 inch thick masonite board and hand primed. These paintings will range between 5x5 inches to 6x8 inches. The idea is for a faster freer style of impressionistic painting. These paintings will be listed on e-bay first and are less expensive then the larger more traditional paintings. To get an idea of the size and how it will fit on your wall the listed sizes are height x width. The term "giclee print" (zhee-klay), a French word "giclée" is a feminine noun that means a spray of liquid, connotes an elevation in printmaking technology. Images are generated from high resolution digital images and printed with archival quality inks onto various substrates including canvas, fine art, and photo-base paper. The giclee printing process provides better color accuracy than other means of reproduction.
The quality of the giclee print rivals traditional silver-halide and gelatin printing processes and is commonly found in museums, art galleries, and photographic galleries.
We currently print on Matte Paper - a very fine bright white heavy smooth texture, Watercolor Paper - a heavy textured bright white paper, Velvet Paper - a heavy soft textured bright white paper, and Canvas. All papers are 100% acid free have been chosen for the archival and quality aspects.
Specific Mats are selected for each piece of artwork and are made available to purchase along with the artwork. Mats are double mats with a 1/8" standard showing of the bottom mat. The purchasing artwork pages provide information for the mat available for that artwork.
Specific Frames have been selected for each piece of artwork and made available to purchase along with the artwork. All frames come with a non-glare acrylic front and a foamcore backing when framing prints on paper or flat canvas. Frames used for stretched canvas do not come with any front or backing which allows the painting to breath. All frames come with attached hardware and are ready for hanging.;
Instead of college, however, the young artist joined the United States Marine Corps, continuing a tradition started by his father many years before. While overseas, the young Marine was given the opportunity to display his art and made his first real sale as an artist. He had done charity work for Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA), was commissioned for various works and had his works presented as mementos to Major Generals on down throughout his 20 year career in the United States Marine Corp. Living in Colorado Springs, Colorado with his wife Barbara; Michael’s love for art has resurfaced. He continues to work full-time for HP while setting aside time each week for painting, drawing and research for his next piece of art. Although, his wife is usually a step ahead in identifying his next piece of artwork. Michael’s two children, Amy and James display his artistic ability and enjoy exploring their own artistic avenues. Amy has recently completed an original oil painting in October 2003. Her daughter, Alexis-Ann at age 3 1/2 also loves to draw and displays the family artistic ability. What started out as a chore with his grandmother has turned into a labor of love and pleasure for him, his family and friends.
